Brennand Investimentos began operations in the year 2004, with the acquisition of two large hydropower plants (LHPs) on the River Juba, in Mato Grosso State. Three more small hydropower plants (SHPs) were subsequently acquired in the State of Tocantins. In 2009, the construction of two SHPs was concluded in the State of Mato Grosso.

In 2016, Brennand Investimentos commenced the development of wind power projects, reaffirming its position of investing in clean energy for the sustainable development of Brazil. In January 2021, three wind farms in the State of Bahia with a total installed capacity of 93.6 MW started operation, together with their transmission system comprising the 360 MVA 34.5 kV/500 kV Arizona Substation and 41 km 500 kV transmission line to Sobradinho (the Chesf substation).

Additionally, two new wind farms began operation in the same location and added 80 MW to the current complex in operation.

SUSTAINABILITY

Brennand Investimentos, in the context of its business, is focused on the generation of clean, renewable energy, while, in conjunction with the Ricardo Brennand Group, it invests in supporting social, cultural and environmental preservation programs. These are initiatives that not only reach local communities, but are recognized nationally and internationally, which is the case of the Ricardo Brennand Institute.

  • Our Lady of The Rosary Nursery School

    The Ricardo Brennand Group maintains the Our Lady of The Rosary Nursery School, located in the district of Várzea, in Recife, Pernambuco State. Here approximately 300 children between 4 months and 5 years of age receive health, nutritional and educational care, with preschool, music and arts classes. This work is directed towards the integrated development of these children, who will be future citizens responsible for disseminating the culture of social responsibility in their communities.

  • Ricardo Brennand Institute

    The Ricardo Brennand Institute, located in an area of 30 thousand square meters, is a cultural complex comprising a museum, art gallery and library. Today the Institute is acclaimed nationally as an important cultural center, receiving around 217 thousand visitors per year and promoting cultural events, including some of international reach.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION INITIATIVES – HYDROPOWER PLANTS

    Carrying out programs to restore degraded areas: Brennand Investimentos is investing continuously in implementing the Degraded Areas Recovery Program (PRAD), in which areas surrounding the power plants have been fenced off and received more than 100 thousand saplings of native species.

  • SOCIAL AND CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES – HYDROPOWER PLANTS

    Support for academic qualification, promoting technical visits to the power plants. Brennand Investimentos opens the doors of its enterprises to universities and technical schools, in field classes with the purpose of conveying technical knowledge to future professionals in the sector. Environmental Education: the aim of the Program is to promote environmental education initiatives among the residents of areas adjacent to the enterprise, with a view to increasing the awareness and environmental protection of regional ecosystems.

  • SUPPORT FOR ECOLOGICAL EVENTS

    Brennand Investimentos supports ecological events, such as donations of native saplings, nature tours of Company areas, donations of fry to riverside fishing communities and waste bins to town councils, in addition to donating funds to build municipal parks, releasing animals into Company green areas and promoting harmonious coexistence with the recreational activities of the local population.

  • SOCIO-ECONOMIC INITIATIVES – HYDROPOWER PLANTS

    Brennand Investimentos acts in conjunction with civil society organizations of the municipality in which the plant is installed, in initiatives such as: donation of basic food baskets to families in a situation of food insecurity, as well as financial support to improve infrastructure for small farmers.
